Our History

A project born of love and truth...

Catalino Rico Nuevo was my grandfather.

His nickname has been with us for four generations, the same ones who have been taking care of the Grenache vines from which our grapes are born.

My great-grandfather, Felipe «Rico Nuevo» was a farmer, stockbreeder and a great wine producer. He made over 2000 arrobas of wine (>30,000kgs) for the family’s consumption and sale in the town of Burgohondo.

Our project seeks to transmit through his wines the marked character of this land. The way of doing and thinking of the people who have worked it.

Winemakers

Soil and barrel, from the vine to the glass...

From working in the vineyard, to the last drop that goes into the bottle.

Passion becomes an obsession for quality and for bringing the terroir to the glass. To turn the wines into a faithful reflection of our environment, to find in every drink the delicacy that only granite soils and old vines give to the Grenache…

CEBREROS DOP

Location

The geographical area of the Protected Designation of Origin Vinos de Cebreros is located in the southeast of the province of Avila. Traditionally this area has been known as «Cebreros» as far as vineyards are concerned, although as you know it covers a total of 35 municipalities.  This means that the area covers a total surface area of 1,663.16 km2, of which 85% corresponds to the Garnacha Tinta variety, 10% to Albillo Real and the remaining 5% is divided between Garnacha Tintorera and Tempranillo.

Wines

The wines produced in the DO Cebreros are whites, rosés and reds, both young and aged, which have in common some special characteristics that are a consequence of the soil in which our red Garnacha and Albillo Real are grown: They are elegant, tasty, with a balance between alcohol and acidity, fine and very lively, as well as a high level of longevity.

Pasion

It all started with a dream, turned into reality thanks to many people: winemakers, wine growers, hoteliers, craftsmen, tourism people, all of them united with one goal, the PDO Cebreros.  As Rafael Mancebo, current president of DO Cebreros, says «where others saw abandoned vineyards, I saw a future, work and opportunities».
